Getting fuel is only half the job. The other half is making sure it reaches the engine clean. In industrial plants and transport fleets, diesel carrying water, particles and sludge is one of the most common causes of failures in injectors, pumps and power generators.
The problem: dirty, wet fuel
Fuel passes through many hands before it reaches your tank, and it picks up contaminants at every step. Once it is stored, the problem continues:
- Solid particles: dust, rust and sediment invisible to the naked eye, yet enough to scratch the precision parts of an injection system.
- Water: it gets in through condensation and worn breathers, or arrives with the fuel itself. It settles at the bottom of the tank and travels straight to the engine.
- Sludge and microorganisms: wherever there is water and diesel, fungi and bacteria grow, plugging filters and corroding the tank.
The result: worn injectors and high-pressure pumps, saturated engine filters, loss of power and unplanned downtime.
Tanks and power generators: where the risk concentrates
The storage tank is where contamination builds up over time. Every new delivery stirs up the bottom and mixes the dirt back into the clean fuel.
Power generators are even more vulnerable. They sit idle for weeks with the diesel standing still, and they have to start exactly when the grid fails. At that moment they suddenly draw in the accumulated water and sludge, and the result can be a failed start or a generator that shuts down in the middle of an emergency.
The solution: Venefilter filtration systems
At Venefilter we design and build fuel filtration systems tailored to each site, and we are official representatives of Hy-Pro, Donaldson and Schroeder, in addition to our own Venefilter line.
On storage tanks we protect the fuel at three points: when it is received, so the supplier's dirt never enters the tank; during storage, with recirculation that filters the diesel, separates the water and returns it clean; and when it is dispensed to your equipment or vehicles.
On power generators we filter the generator tank with periodic recirculation, so the fuel stays clean and dry while the unit is idle and the generator is ready when it is needed.
These systems apply both to industrial plants with their own primary or backup generation and to transport fleets with their own dispensing tank, where filtering at the tank protects every vehicle at once.
Benefits for your assets
- Protection for injectors and high-pressure pumps.
- Power generators that start and run when they are needed.
- Fewer unplanned stops, at the plant and on the road.
- Longer life for engine filters.
- Real savings: a filtration system costs far less than repairing an engine or an injection pump.
We also offer tank cleaning when sludge has already built up, and fuel analysis with Tribo-Labs to measure the real condition of the fuel before and after the work.
Protect your equipment before it fails
Contaminated fuel works silently until an injector fails or a generator won't start. Contact us to request an assessment or a quote and let's design the right system for your tanks, power generators and fleets together.
Frequently asked questions
Why filter if my equipment already has filters?
The engine filter is the last barrier, not a cleaning system. With very dirty fuel it saturates quickly and lets contaminants through.
How do I know if my fuel is contaminated?
Filters that clog often, loss of power or water in the tank drains are warning signs. The reliable way to know is a fuel analysis with Tribo-Labs.
